Dear HB Parents, Teachers and Staff,
As the school year comes to a close, we'd like to sincerely thank all of you that have given of your time, talents and/or resources to support our HB PTA this year. Please know that you are very much appreciated by the staff, the students and our Board!
We've had a great year and are very pleased with the great relationship we have built with the awesome administration and staff at HB and the exciting things that have been accomplished together this year. Over this past school year, we were able to hold three dances, an 8th grade pool party, a move up reception for our 8th graders, and several well-received staff appreciation events. In addition, the PTA helped coordinate the Reflections program, worked on several landscaping projects, started a new student recognition program and a new diversity program, as well as got a new HB PTA website up and running! Whew!!
With funds the PTA has raised through membership fees, the Scholastic Book Fair, our Yankee Candle fundraiser, the coupon book fundraiser, our product incentive programs and online donations, we were able to give 7 Classroom grants (up to $500 each) to teachers this year to support their work with our students during the school day. We also provided $1,779 in Teacher Support Funds this year to help teachers with the cost of classroom materials. We were especially pleased to contribute to the new sound system that was installed in HB’s auditorium this year through these fundraising efforts and a grant the PTA requested last year through the New Castle County Council.
While we accomplished a lot this year, we are even more excited about the possibilities for the coming year. At our regular meeting in May, the officers for next year were elected and much progress was made in identifying committee chairs so they are ready to hit the ground running. We are excited to announce the PTA officers for the 2015-2016 school year:
