Parent Feedback Sought on Student Assessments by November 3

Added on by HBPTA Webmaster.

Assessment is a valuable part of Red Clay’s educational program. This important component allows teachers to plan, document and evaluate student learning in an ongoing cycle. This teaching process is crucial to promote student achievement. Tests and other assessments provide evidence of student learning and help teachers identify next steps in their instruction.  The Red Clay Consolidated School District is evaluating assessments our students currently take to determine the appropriate amount of testing necessary to meet the needs of students and educators.  Parent, student, and educator perceptions are an important part of this process. Please provide your input by completing the Parent survey at (English) or (Spanish).  The survey will be open from October 16th through November 3rd. We will also be gathering input from teachers and some students. This valuable feedback will be used to refine the district’s assessment program.

Thank you for a great year!

Added on by HBPTA Webmaster.

Dear HB Parents, Teachers and Staff,

As the school year comes to a close, we'd like to sincerely thank all of you that have given of your time, talents and/or resources to support our HB PTA this year.  Please know that you are very much appreciated by the staff, the students and our Board!

We've had a great year and are very pleased with the great relationship we have built with the awesome administration and staff at HB and the exciting things that have been accomplished together this year.  Over this past school year, we were able to hold three dances, an 8th grade pool party, a move up reception for our 8th graders, and several well-received staff appreciation events.  In addition, the PTA helped coordinate the Reflections program, worked on several landscaping projects, started a new student recognition program and a new diversity program, as well as got a new HB PTA website up and running!  Whew!!

With funds the PTA has raised through membership fees, the Scholastic Book Fair, our Yankee Candle fundraiser, the coupon book fundraiser, our product incentive programs and online donations, we were able to give 7 Classroom grants (up to $500 each) to teachers this year to support their work with our students during the school day.  We also provided $1,779 in Teacher Support Funds this year to help teachers with the cost of classroom materials.  We were especially pleased to contribute to the new sound system that was installed in HB’s auditorium this year through these fundraising efforts and a grant the PTA requested last year through the New Castle County Council.

While we accomplished a lot this year, we are even more excited about the possibilities for the coming year.   At our regular meeting in May, the officers for next year were elected and much progress was made in identifying committee chairs so they are ready to hit the ground running.  We are excited to announce the PTA officers for the 2015-2016 school year:

President-Kelly Coffey (
Secretary-Deanna Blanchard (
Treasurer-Michelle Pijuan (
1st VP: Student Events-Amy Shirley (
2nd VP: Fundraising-Jen Wootten (
3rd VP: Staff & Student Support-Stephanie Clatworthy (
Membership - Donna Stack (

We hope you will join the PTA at the beginning of the year next year so you can share with us what is important to you and your children and help us continue to support our children and HB.  Below are the standing committees of our PTA.  Please be sure to reach out to the new board members if you would like to be on one of these committees.
